  • Image attachments not showing in posts after server migration to LiteSpeed

After migrating my SMF 2.1.5 forum to a new host using LiteSpeed Web Server, users cannot see attached images in posts. The attachment icons appear, but clicking them gives a 404.

    Environment:
    • SMF: 2.1.5
    • Server: LiteSpeed (cPanel), PHP 8.1
    • Attachment Settings: Stored in database (default).

    What I’ve checked:
    1. File permissions for /attachments directory are 755.
    2. attachmentUploadDir in Settings.php is correct.
    3. LiteSpeed rewrite rules from .htaccess are active.

Specific question: Could LiteSpeed be blocking the dynamic attachment PHP script (index.php?action=dlattach)? Has anyone experienced this and found a specific LiteSpeed configuration rule to fix it?

  • “Alert” emails failing after SMF 2.1.6 upgrade on shared host

Body: Since upgrading from 2.0.19 to 2.1.6, users no longer receive topic reply notifications or registration emails.
    Environment:
SMF: 2.1.6, fresh install, database imported.
Host: Shared cPanel hosting (PHP 8.1).
Email Settings: Administration > Configuration > Server Settings > Mail: set to PHP mail().
    Troubleshooting:
    1. Test email from Maintenance > Mail fails silently.
    2. SMF error log shows: mail(): Failed to send mail.
    3. No mail.log on server I can access.
Question: Is there a new SMF 2.1.x mail requirement? Should I switch to SMTP even for simple shared hosting? What’s the best practice for debugging mail() on a restricted host?

  • Automating DHCP static leases via API – missing endpoint?

I’m building a lab automation pipeline and need to provision OPNsense 25.7 unattended. My goal is to manage DHCP static mappings via an API. I’ve enabled the API and checked the official documentation, but I can’t find a core endpoint for dhcpd static leases.
    My approach:
    • Using the configd socket for some tasks works.
    • Found community Ansible collections that rely on unsupported methods like editing config.xml directly, which I want to avoid for HA sync compatibility.
Question: Is there a supported, API-driven method for managing DHCP static leases in the current version that I’ve missed? If not, is this functionality on the roadmap for the official API?

  • Customers cannot see “My Activities” widget on portal despite being logged in

In our service project, logged-in customers (portal users) report the “My Activities” widget is empty or says “You need to log in,” even though they are logged in and can raise new requests.

    Environment:
    JSM: Cloud (Latest).
    Project Type: IT Service Management.
Widget: “My Activities” added to portal homepage.

    Troubleshooting done:
    1. Confirmed the widget is enabled in Portal Settings > Look and feel.
    2. Checked Project Settings > Customer permissions – users have “View their own requests” and “Add comments.”
    3. Tested with a new customer user – same issue.
    4. Inspected browser console – no JavaScript errors.

Is the “My Activities” widget dependent on a specific permission beyond the basic customer role? Could it be related to how user accounts are mapped (e.g., if email domains differ between Jira account and request)?

  • GPO for Folder Redirection fails intermittently for subset of users

We have a Folder Redirection policy in our domain that redirects the Desktop and Documents folders to a network share (\\fileserver\users$). For about 10% of users on Windows 11 23H2, the folders fail to redirect on login with error ID 112 in the event log, leaving local folders. This is intermittent—logging off and on sometimes fixes it.

    Environment:
DCs: 2x Windows Server 2022 (fully patched)
File Server: Windows Server 2022, same subnet
    Clients: Windows 11 23H2, build 22631.xx
GPO: User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection

    Troubleshooting done:
    1. Verified share (\\fileserver\users$) and NTFS permissions are correct (Authenticated Users = Full Control on share, user = owner of their folder).
    2. Checked gpresult /r on an affected client—the policy applies successfully.
    3. No relevant errors on the DC or file server logs. Network connectivity is stable (no packet loss).

Specific question: Could this be a timing issue with drive mapping or network resource availability during logon? Should we implement a logon script delay or use “Wait for network” policy, and if so, what’s the current best practice?

  • Experiences with the new Drupal Starshot initiative for site builders?

About Drupal Starshot, I’m curious about the community’s thoughts, especially from fellow site builders. The promise of a more opinionated, out-of-the-box experience could be a game-changer for onboarding new users and competing with other CMS platforms.

    Questions:
    1. What existing distributions or installation profiles do you think Starshot should learn from?
    2. Which “batteries-included” features (e.g., layout builder, media library, workflows) are most critical to include by default?
    3. How can the community best contribute to shaping this initiative? Let’s share ideas .

  • Brother MFC-L2750DW USB printer not detected in Fedora 42/43

I got my Brother MFC-L2750DW working over USB on Fedora 43 and wanted to share the steps that worked for me, building on the great advice in this forum.

The Issue is: The printer was powered on and connected via USB, but lpinfo -v and the GNOME Settings > Printers did not see it. lsusb showed the device (Bus 003 Device 004: ID 04f9:034a Brother Industries, Ltd).
